Strategic Planning
Strategic Planning Executive Overview
May 26, 2011
Dear Bryn Athyn Community,
As you may know, a Strategic Planning Committee representing a cross-section of church and school administration, Board and faculty was established to lead our organization through it’s first-ever, true strategic planning process. The purpose of the strategic planning process is to develop key objectives and initiatives that will serve as a "roadmap" for our school. Members of the committee include: Erik Buss, Chuck Lindsay, Debbie Cook, Kirsten Cronlund, Jennifer Pronesti, Lucas Mergen, and Reid Prichett. The Committee has been working diligently and thoughtfully to develop a strategic plan that can guide our school in to the future.
Since November 2010, the Strategic Planning Committee met in person on three occasions (including one full day retreat), and by conference call on four occasions with facilitation by John Suddes, President of Suddes Partners. Additional conversations were held with members of the group via email, and by phone to keep the process moving. In addition, the Committee conducted a survey in December 2010 of the Bryn Athyn community to gain a broader perspective. Over 100 people responded to the survey and it was clear they were thoughtful in their responses.
The plan is beginning to take shape and the Committee is pleased with the direction we are headed. The Strategic Plan will address critical topics such as:
1. Incorporating New Church teachings in all areas of curriculum in a manner reflective of today's new learning environment.
2. Incorporating sound operational practices to ensure long-term sustainability of BACS.
3. Improved communication and creating an environment of trust and shared vision through transparency, cooperation, and collaboration.
Naturally, it is critical that we gain the input and support of our community, and we feel that your insight and feedback in this process is valuable. The Strategic Planning Committee will continue to work diligently over the summer, and no final decisions will be made without first gathering feedback from the Bryn Athyn community. We look forward to communicating further details of the plan when we return to school in the fall, and providing the opportunity for our community to respond.
Thank you for your support and prayers as we continue this important work for the Bryn Athyn Church School on behalf of the Bryn Athyn community.
Regards,
