School Mission and Goals

Mission Statement

The Bryn Athyn Church School seeks to provide children with an education based on the teachings of the New Church to prepare them to become confident, caring and useful citizens of this world, and of the Lord’s heavenly kingdom.


Long Term Goals for the Bryn Athyn Church School

Revised March 2010

  1. Promote the continuing development of New Church teaching. Focus on the religion program, excellence in teaching, and developing an environment and atmosphere of mutual respect in which administrators, teachers, and parents can work together to see what the Heavenly Doctrine teaches about children and how best to guide them.

  2. Promote student speech and behavior that reflect the teachings of the New Church in terms of moral behavior, kindness, useful service, and preparation for the next stage of their education.

  3. Support the Bryn Athyn Church evangelization program through the recruitment and integration of interested and informed new families into the school and the life of the Church, thereby promoting a growing church and school community.

  4. Spearhead efforts to provide preschool and elementary school infrastructure that reflects these schools' mission and purpose.

  5. Pursue an increased level of mutual respect and support for continuity between the elementary school and the Academy Secondary Schools. This relationship would be fostered through the articulation of curriculum, athletics, and admissions, in ways that honor and protect the unique states of elementary-school-age children.

  6. Further develop BACS into a center of excellence which can serve as a model of New Church elementary school education and provide support to other New Church elementary schools.

Note: These goals will be reviewed annually by the Board School Committee in conjunction with the strategic goals of the Bryn Athyn Church School.

This statement was revised by the Board Governance Committee with input from the Pastor and Board of Trustees, and was affirmed by a vote of the Board on March 15, 2010.
