Headmaster Welcome Letter
Welcome!
I am thrilled that you are visiting the Bryn Athyn Church School (BACS) website. Since our founding in 1894 BACS has been a school within the Bryn Athyn Church. This spiritual foundation allows us to maintain an unwavering focus on preparing children to live their lives in a manner that makes the world a better place…a place where the Lord is present in their actions. Our teachers are devoted to focusing on the spiritual, cognitive, and physical development of the student; nurturing each child to become a future angel. To this day, we remain dedicated to working with families who are interested in raising their children according to the teachings of the New Church.
Three things motivate the learning environment we create for students:
1) fostering student’s relationship with the Lord,
2) fostering student’s relationships with the neighbor, and
3) providing students with the skills and knowledge to live a useful life.
We tap the affections of students from the start of each day with prayer in chapel, to classes that integrate doctrine, to team sports. We appreciate the many ways in which children learn and provide ample time for the creative thinking that emerges through the arts and physical activity. It becomes clear as you walk the halls of the school, taking in the many displays of student work, that we value student thinking and effort. Special school-wide and grade-level events, such as our Christmas Program, serve as benchmark experiences in our students’ lives that help them learn to work collaboratively. I am frequently inspired by our students when they break spontaneously into song together or actively engage in community service projects. All of this happens in a safe learning environment.
I think you will agree with me that BACS is a special place where you can see the joy of our students as they engage in learning. I hope that you will come visit our school within a church and sense the passion we share for teaching our children to live a life filled with good.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Reid Prichett
