Congratulations to all Participants in the Summer Reading Program! We had about 105 students hand in Summer Reading slips! Of Course these students are all winners in my book! So… Any Child who handed in a reading slip will get to participate in the Donut Day in late November. Children who reached their Page Goal will receive a Poster to celebrate their accomplishment! (They will be choosing posters in the next week or so!) Children who were top readers in their Grade will receive 2 posters… And the following children will get an extra poster and prize for being the Top Readers in the School! A Lamp to Our Feet and a Light to Our Path Picture yourself in a long dark tunnel. A small beckoning light shines at the end of the tunnel but the ground at your feet is strewn with sharp rocks. Puddles of gross water seem to be everywhere. How will you get to that wonderful world outside the tunnel? It sure would be helpful to have even a weak flashlight or a candle to light the way. Now imagine the same tunnel, but this time you have a powerful searchlight in your hand. Not only can you see clearly where to put your feet, but the beam glances off the walls and some very pretty rock formations appear out of the darkness. Sparkling crystals reflect the light bringing out beautiful patterns and shades. A few of the pools might even be fun to paddle through. From being a tortuous struggle, the path ahead now looks very passable, even delightful in places. What a different look our world can have when we add light to the picture. Compared to the bright light of heaven, life on earth is like dwelling in darkness. But our world need not be a gruesome tunnel experience if we truly embrace the Word as a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. The Lord’s Word is a searchlight of sorts which has the power to illuminate the pitfalls and the murky places which block our path to enjoyment of life now and to eternity. As we come to the end of our first trimester, our school theme for the year is helping us to let the Lord’s light shine within the walls of BACS allowing us to focus on the bright side of life that His Word reveals.
